Makes it easier to splurge on this amazing lamp. Now in my living room!!

Emily Bazeley – faerie tailor

I just saw this on Nationwide tonight on RTÉ, an artist who makes furniture and clothing for faeries.

So sweet. Emily Bazeley and other artists in her collective in Donegal pool their resources and show their work together around Ireland.

She makes the dresses out of pressed flowers and leaves, some of the materials she has been collecting her whole life, and materials from her grandmother. What a legacy

Craft boom in Sligo yarn and beads, oh my!

Ok, hardly a boom… but ever since the haberdashery at Lyons department stored closed it’s been a sad time for Sligo town’s crafters… *cry*

There is of course… the Crafter’s Basket in Sligo… yay if you have a car. Good for you. I don’t.

and… even a beads store!

Twinkles bead shop… well it’s listed as “Boutique Coffee and Team Room”. It’s right above the Sligo Auctioneers which is going to open as an actual antiques shop. See a map, there’s no site yet. It’s in a funny part of town, but in walking distance. It’s worth the trip to browse antiques and site and have very god pastries and coffee while looking at beads

I’m adding these to a map for creative spots in Sligo and Leitrim for my guests coming this summer.

Beth O’Halloran has made a red-squirrel named after me. *blush* OK, I don’t know the talented Ms O’Halloran, so this claim is completely unfounded, but she got the likeness so accurate!

She nicks gloves from the bins at her day job working in a museum to make these little creatures. When she isn’t busy sewing these little critters, she is toiling away with her paintbrush, making lovely paintings. She’s quite the mixologist when it comes to colour. Yum. Nice to see a ‘professional’ Irish crafts person, who listed on CCoI- Crafts Council of Ireland taking on some of the indie craft styles, using recycled materials, etc. Reminds me of the Japanese Sock & Glove book, which was recently translated to English, lucky you.
