This is one of the first assignments I got excited about fro Style School. Check out the list of projects on Freckled Nest.
I have enjoyed making the Style File book soo sooo much. I can’t really show it all because it’s just a collection of images I’ve been gathering for a long time. And I have no idea where they are all from. It annoys me that the JPEG file format can’t hold a freeking name in it and source link. I hope some else passing by might know some of the names. I’d like to look up the artists!
What I’ve learned doing the Stylefile so far…
I’ve discovered alot of things i like:
- images with people engaging with animals, dressing like animals, holding animals
- images of the night sky, stars, clusters, constellations, maps, webs, connections, branches
- muted colours, with punches of red and black and washes of candy palettes with muted colours & metallics
- line drawings and cut-outsĀ
- cute, but it has to be aged or sinister
- folky looking, antique, lace too- and that comes from growing up in an antiques store
It’s been eye opening. Now I can see better what is inside my circle and then ignore all of the sparkly things that distract me. I don’t mind that I try all kinds of media. I just want everything to sort of go together, and look like it’s from the same hand.
Now to get on with the other projects and apply some of the ideas.

this is so great! exciting to read what you’re learning!
