the nina-chan book

nina doll These are pictures from the nina chan book. Isbn4072498866

nina in parisShe seems obviously inspired by Madeleine. Here she is at a metro station!

tiny felt slippers The clothes are sweet. And some are quite Japanese. Of course Nina needs slippers!
nina pattern You can see I’ve started scribbling into the book! Terrible, I am! I will be making notes over in my japanese notebook, since it seems more appropriate. I’ll be learning Japanese as I make her.

  1. She looks so adorable.

I think your idea of learning Japanese with a craft book is superb. I’m sure it will provide excellent motivation. I wish I could join you!

    Best wishes.

  2. Those shoes! I must make some even if I don’t have dolls.

  3. i’m on a similar mission – trying to keep up some level of japanese/interest in japan through making japanese crafts, mostly amigurumi, and looking at japanese books, magazines and blogs.
i lived in toyama-ken when i was in japan and never made it down to kyushu, but i’m hoping to some day.
    よろしく。
