Illustration Friday - Simple

I wanted to join the drawing club at Illustration Friday. I think it might help get me back into drawing!

This is a simple moment of bliss. A drawing of my friend and her son. I did it today from a photo dated in 2001.

    i wanted to do a drawing for him for his birthday… but i’m not sure he’d like. i think his mom might like it more. :)

    To get the color, I took the black line-drawing in photoshop, and duplicated the layer. I went to Hue + Saturation and ‘colorized’ the top layer- and made it blue and saturated. Then I went to town with a Gaussian blur until it was a faint blue glow over the black line. I wanted to look as cozy and he probably felt after a big feed!
